The Center of Research Excellence in Petroleum Refining and Petrochemicals (CoRE-PRP) was established by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) on Muharram 15, 1428 (February 4, 2007) at the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM, the host unit), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Since its establishment, MoHE primarily finances this center.
The Center conducts focused catalysis research only in the following three research sub-themes (programs): Olefins, Aromatics, Polyolefins

Be a leading and a recognized national center of research excellence in its core theme which is olefin, aromatic, and polyolefin catalysis.
Mission
Conduct focused (basic and applied) research, and development in its core theme olefin, aromatic, and polyolefin catalysis to keep Saudi Arabia at the forefront of these catalysis fields.
Foster innovation by providing a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
Collaborate nationally and internationally, and enhance the exchange of personnel and ideas.
Participate actively in educational, social, and cultural development of the society.
